Rachel began her career with Firmdale Hotels, working in events and sales, before leaving to work as a PA in various industries, including property investment and law.
After having children, Rachel returned to work for Alabaré, a charity which supports homeless, vulnerable, and marginalised people in England and Wales, including veterans and young people, as well as enabling those with learning disabilities to live an independent life.
Most recently, Rachel completed an internship with Harbour Hotels in the Marketing and PR department.
What’s your career highlight to date?
Arranging and running an online Gala Non Event for Alabaré, a homeless charity, during lockdown. The pandemic meant that most of the other events that we were working on had to be cancelled or postponed, so we needed to think outside the box. The event became one of the biggest fundraisers of the year.
When did you fall in love with hospitality?
I moved to London to work on the Graduate Trainee Programme for Firmdale Hotels, so got to experience all parts of the hotels and fell in love with the buzz and energy. There is no such thing as a boring day in hospitality!
What one item do you never travel without?
My itinerary and travel wallet! I will always make an itinerary of every trip that we make, with every contact telephone, booking reference, flight number, and embassy possible. I rarely need the information on this sheet, but it makes me feel better to know that it is all there if I need it!
